Individualise a meddevo Writer Template

This article explains how you can take an existing meddevo template and modify it to your requirements.

Sometimes you may want to adapt a template provided by meddevo to fit your company’s specific requirements. While meddevo provides a set of standard templates for your convenience, these templates cannot be modified directly because they remain the property of meddevo. However, you can easily create your own version by duplicating and customising a meddevo template.

How to Customise a meddevo Template

Follow these steps to create a personalised template based on an existing meddevo template:

Navigate to Document Template Management:

Go to “Collections” > “Documents” in the meddevo interface. Find the “Document Template Management” area.

Open the meddevo Template:

Find the template provided by meddevo that you would like to base your template on, select it, and open it.

Duplicate the Template:

In the opened template, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and choose “Duplicate” from the menu.

Edit the Duplicated Template:

The system creates a copy of the original template. The duplicate will open automatically and can now be edited freely according to your requirements. All editing steps are described in detail in the article "Create a New meddevo Writer Document Template".

Rename Your Template:

Make sure to change the name of your new template to something that clearly identifies it as your organisation's custom version.

Important Notes

  • Direct editing of meddevo standard templates is not possible.
  • Always give your duplicate template a clear and distinct name to avoid confusion with the original.
  • Customised templates are visible only to your organisation (depending on your user rights and workspace settings).
  • Updates to meddevo templates: If meddevo updates its standard templates—e.g., due to regulatory changes—your duplicated template will not be updated automatically. In such cases, you must manually adapt your custom template if you wish to include these changes.
  • Recommendation: We recommend using the standard meddevo templates as much as possible, as these are regularly maintained and kept up to date with regulatory requirements.
