Audit Trail Overview
The "Audit Trail" function in meddevo (sometimes called "track changes," "change tracking," "revision history," or "edit history" in other software) allows you to see all previous changes made to an entry. Each modification to an entry creates a new version number, making it easy to review who changed what and when—similar to the "track changes" feature in word processors like Microsoft Word. This history can be displayed in two views: Overview and Detailed.
- Overview: Only the changes between major versions (1.0, 2.0, etc.) and the last change to the entry are displayed. Each version that has been released automatically becomes the major version. Example: version 1.4 automatically becomes version 2.0 when released.
- Detailed: All changes between (sub)versions (1.1, 1.2, etc.) are displayed, as well as the last change to the entry. Clicking on a version will show the changes from the selected version to the previous version (So in the example all changes from version 1.3 to 1.4).
With a click on "Restore version" previous versions of the entry can be restored.

The Audit Trail in meddevo is CFR 21 Part 11 compliant.
FAQ Audit Trail
Does meddevo track changes to entries?
Yes, meddevo tracks all changes made to an entry through its "Audit Trail" function. Every modification is saved as a new version, so you can review what was changed, when it was changed, and who made the change. This is similar to "track changes" or "change tracking" features found in other systems. You also have the option to restore a previous version at any time.
Can I start an entry with a specific version?
No. We had this feature in previous versions of meddevo, but have removed it. New entries will automatically start as either 0.1 draft or 1.0 major.
