Document Monitoring Overview
The document monitoring feature in meddevo ensures that you always have an overview of the currency status of your Writer documents. This allows you to instantly see which documents are based on the latest data and where updates may be required.
1. Creation and Structure of Documents
In meddevo, documents can be created manually or automatically based on a template using the meddevo Writer.
Writer documents are made up of so-called blocks, in which you can reference and display any data available in the system.
2. Monitoring Mechanism and Tracking Data Changes
As soon as you change data or edit relevant entries in meddevo, all linked Writer documents are checked for currency.
The system automatically detects if referenced data in a document is no longer up-to-date with the current released version.
Monitoring exclusively checks released (published) data. Only released data is relevant for the currency check.
3. Display and Handling of Changed Data
- In the document monitoring tab of the overview table, you can see the status of each document (e.g., current, outdated) in the “Document monitoring” column.
- When you open an outdated document, a corresponding notice (“outdated”) appears at the top.
- In edit mode, a yellow area with the message "Show changes" is displayed.
- Clicking this notice provides you with a preview of all changes (redline view), e.g., which content has been removed (red) or newly added (green).
Tip: A monitored document can always be updated by opening and saving it—any current data will be adopted.
4. Notes on Updating and Versioning
- Documents that have become outdated due to changes in the associated data can be easily brought up-to-date with a click. The system automatically creates a new version (e.g., version 1.1).
- Version and change tracking run seamlessly via the integrated document monitoring and the audit trail.
5. Overview and Symbols in the Monitoring View
The monitoring view not only shows the status but also various symbols and markers that provide precise information about the currency and release status.
A detailed explanation of the individual symbols and areas can be found in this article:

6. When is a Document Current – and When is it Outdated?
A Writer document is considered current if it exclusively contains released data that has not changed since the last document save.
As soon as relevant referenced data changes, the document is marked as outdated.
