Create Document Header and Footer

General information

In meddevo, you can create your own header and footer (h&f) templates for documents. These elements will appear on each page of the document when exported or printed, and can include items like the document title, page numbers, version information, and more.

A default header and footer template is created during system setup to ensure all documents follow a consistent layout. However, you can also define additional templates to cover specific use cases — for example, different layouts for SOPs, reports, or quality manuals.

Where to find your header and footer templates

Users with admin rights can navigate to the administration area and will there find the area in which h&f templates can be created and altered.

1. Navigate to the "Administration" Area. (1)
2. Click on "Header and Footer Templates" (2).

Designing your own templates

meddevo comes with a preconfigured default header. Taking a look at this can help understand how to set up your own templates.

In the header & footer template edit module you will find the same text and formatting options as available in the writer.

By typing @ you can open the inline-content menu. In the section "Document-Meta" you will find options to add the company logo, document title, version, page number and many other options.

Ensure that you have your company logo added in the workspace settings, or otherwise it can not be displayed in the header & footer. You can add your company logo under Administration -> Workspace Control.

How to set a default h&f template

When editing any h&f template, you can check the "Default" checkmark. Keep in mind that only one template can be set as default. Once you set a new default, all your documents that use this default template will be altered with the next time you save them. meddevo will provide a warning that you are about to change the default.
